Our child psychiatry team is unparalleled in the local behavioral health landscape. Led by Dr. Allison Beckler, the team includes board certified child psychiatrists and clinical nurse specialists who provide a full range of psychiatric services at all levels of care within the agency, through our four Behavioral Health Centers, and to youth in our Out-of-Home programs.
Population Served
- Youth ages 5-18
- Young adults up to the age of 22 if they are already a YOU, Inc. psychiatry client
- Youth struggling with a wide range of serious challenges and diagnoses including but not limited to anxiety, depression and suicidality, substance use, issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and traumatic life experiences such as physical or sexual abuse, neglect, family and domestic violence, and other forms of trauma.
Overview of Services
Members of the Psychiatry team lead care planning meetings with clients, parents, guardians, and at times with outside providers such as teachers or caseworkers. A psychiatrist meets at least weekly – and often more frequently – with every youth in out-of-home care.
Clients of both our Behavioral Health Center-based counseling services and our out-of-home programs may require psychopharmacological (medicinal) evaluations, including prescription review, and/or monitoring by a psychiatrist or R.N. Clinical Specialist for efficacy and side effects. The team’s goal is to work proactively to stabilize each youth with the least amount of medication possible – therefore greatly reducing the possibility of potentially harmful and dangerous side effects.
