Take a few moments to read the blog of daily updates on shgo.org sharing the journey and important stories of the resilient people of Sierra Leone and Kenya, living in some of the world’s harshest poverty. I share our adventures traveling 26 hours to start our mission of meeting and advising in both the Sierra Leone capital of Freetown, then on to the Bo region to visit our Seven Hills Global Outreach campus and schools, and through our hiking 10 miles into the bush to visit the 26 villages we’ve brought clean water and sanitation to which has saved thousands of lives. On Day 6 of our trip I highlight the journey to Nairobi, Kenya, home to over 500,000 people living in the harshest poverty, crammed in 1 square mile. Here we are visiting the program sites of our partners, FOCUS Dream Center, Bethel School, and Children’s Garden Orphanage.
SHGO was born from the desire of our own Seven Hills staff to give back to vulnerable people and communities in their native countries. It’s a vital piece of what we do at Seven Hills to fulfill our mission of “promoting and encouraging the empowerment of people with significant life challenges so that each may pursue their highest possible degree of personal well-being and independence.”
I encourage you to click through and learn, and then take action to help make lives of our neighbors a world away a bit better.
