Dr. David Jordan, President & CEO of Seven Hills Foundation was a featured speaker at the 39th Annual Provider’s Council Annual Meeting and Seminar, titled, “Beyond Social Value”. The presentation exposed the dramatic impact that the Human Services sector has on the state of Massachusetts, generating over $3.4 billion in the state in revenue. Dr. Jordan worked with the Donahue Institute at UMass Dartmouth to lead research and publish the study on the effects and future trends of the Human Services Sector on the state’s economy. The study examines the unprecedented growth in the need for services for the elderly and people with disabilities, as well as the alarming need for a workforce to support the need. The soon to be published report will be widely used to educate legislative and state officials on the issues surrounding equitable pay for human service workers, of whom 12% are currently at or below 150% of the federal poverty line. “To attract this much needed workforce, our state needs to significantly improve wages and benefits to begin to address the increase in our aging population in Massachusetts.” said Dr. Jordan.
