The Summer Literacy Initiative (SLI) has partnered with summer camp programs operating throughout Worcester to integrate effective literacy learning strategies that prevent summer learning loss for children entering grades 1-4 each fall. Launched in 2010, the summer program now ensures over 1,200 at-risk children in our community achieve grade level reading to prepare them for future academic success. Family Services of Central Massachusetts is grateful to the United Way of Central Massachusetts for its most recent grant of $30,000 to support the SLI in FY24.
