The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified the need for grief support in our community, especially for our youth. Children have suffered the loss of siblings, parents, and primary caregivers not only directly from the virus, but also from the increase in drug over-doses that have been seen during this time in Worcester County and across the country (Mass.gov). The COVID restrictions on gatherings prevented or at least delayed the coming together of families and friends to mourn their loved ones, causing additional trauma and stress. Children’s Friend, an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, would like to offer a most sincere thank you to The Haley Cremer Foundation for their ongoing commitment to the children served at The Carriage House, and for their recent generous grant of $10,000. The Carriage House, the only program of its kind in central Massachusetts, provides grief support groups to children and teens ages 3-18 whose parents, other primary caregivers, or siblings have died.
