It’s been an exciting three years and eight months for Tony Johnson since joining the Seven Hills workforce in May 2018. Tony began his Seven Hills career as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), working at Seven Hills Pediatric Center at Hopedale while studying to become a registered nurse (RN). Once certified, Tony changed his position to be the night shift RN at Hopedale. During this time, he also became a Department of Children and Families (DCF) visiting resource for one of the teenaged residents of the center. Tony ultimately decided to adopt that same teen. This life-changing responsibility necessitated a shift to daytime hours, so Tony took on a new role as Health Care Supervisor for ASPiRE! at Worcester Day Hab (WDH)! Tony is a terrific asset to the entire ASPiRE! team. He seamlessly manages his daily duties such as medication management, catheterizations, g-tube feedings, and blood sugar monitoring, in addition to an impressive amount of paperwork. In addition, Tony will assist in any program area he is needed. Personable and outgoing, Tony’s presence is enjoyed by participants and staff alike. He makes programming more fun, perhaps by dressing up in costumes for special events, and most recently creating a special skit with a fellow nurse, “The Twelve Days of Christmas: Day Hab Style,” for the Holiday Talent Show. Tony says that he has “lucked out” in the way his life has “worked out” since joining Seven Hills. Not only has he discovered the joys of working in the upbeat atmosphere of the participants, he revels in the joys of having a family. “Seven Hills has provided me with more than employment. Every day at work, I am surrounded by a wonderful community—and I have that community to thank for introducing me to my son!”
