Danielle Turner is the exuberant residence director (RD) of Aspinwall, a group home for five women with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. With positivity and cheerfulness, Danielle manages the home with her heart—and the comfort and well-being of its residents as her top priority. Danielle began her career at Seven Hills in July 2014, as a direct support professional at Sunderland Rd. After two years, she was promoted to assistant residence director (ARD). During an interview for an internal position, Danielle was asked where she could see herself in five years. In less than two years, she’d landed that position as the Aspinwall RD. Danielle is the ultimate team player managing six to nine staff, assuming mentorship and oversight roles at other homes, and filling in for shifts at a moment’s notice. Danielle consistently maintains high-quality care, routines, and time for creative activities with boundless energy and a can-do attitude. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Danielle is quick to answer: "The residents' accomplishments—that is what makes my day, every day!” Communication is a challenge for the women in the home. Verbal expression can be limited to one word—a full sentence is an extraordinary accomplishment. Danielle and her team work daily to achieve the extraordinary but take the time to celebrate every step—and word—along the way. According to Danielle’s fellow staff, “She is amazing!”
