VSA Massachusetts (VSA MA) is pleased to share that they have received a $60,000 grant from the Liberty Mutual Foundation. This award will be used toward VSA Massachusetts’ COOL Schools program at eight different Boston Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year. COOL Schools provides opportunities for students of all abilities to develop artistic, academic, and social-emotional skills. This grant supports the development of teaching practices that create more inclusive, welcoming environments for all students. The eight Boston schools that COOL Schools will be working in have all been designated as Title I schools. The impact of arts education for students is even more significant in schools with limited resources and higher percentages of students experiencing additional factors that affect their learning, such as home life, socio-economic backgrounds, and language barriers. With continued funding from the Liberty Mutual Foundation, VSA MA will be able to serve these students and decrease the gaps in arts education.
