Please join me in honoring the true unsung heroes at Seven Hills - our fellow staff members who work in Direct Support roles, assisting individuals with disabilities and life challenges in their quest to lead dignified and self-determined lives. The week of September 13-19 has been designated as "National Direct Support Professional Recognition Week," an important movement aimed at recognizing - and, most important - thanking people who have chosen to support and care for others as their life's profession.
At Seven Hills, our staff provides vital supports to thousands of individuals with disabilities, brain injuries, mental illnesses and addictions. Our Direct Support staff members provide person-centered supports, help people build and maintain relationships and community connections, promote health and wellness, and foster advocacy. These efforts are only successful with a passionate human services workforce, and Seven Hills boasts the best in the sector.
I am in awe of our Direct Support staff who provide the highest quality of care to our individuals each day and night. I admire the work ethic, discipline, professionalism and, most important, the compassion that our staff brings to Seven Hills. In turn, we work to ensure that Seven Hills provides all of our staff members with the most supportive environment in which to expand the Direct Support profession. Seven Hills is a place to learn and grow – the best way to help others is to provide the best training and education available to our employees and, through our Seven Hills Corporate College and generous tuition remission program, we ensure that access. Our salary and benefits reflect our commitment to dignifying the work of everyone in our organization. Through tireless advocacy at both the Massachusetts and Rhode Island State levels as well as with the Federal Government, Seven Hills is recognized and revered as a leading voice for the Human Services workforce.
Our Seven Hills community is reflective of the communities in which we provide care, with 3,700 professionals representing 43 countries of origin. This diversity of culture enriches our community and the individuals in our varied programs. I am so proud of how much we value each other and how that value is reflected in our Seven Hills culture, which is the foundation of our quality supports.
It is with great admiration and gratitude that I pause to thank each and every member of our Seven Hills family for sharing your gifts by working directly with individuals – who might otherwise not be able – to pursue their dreams.
