The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts has awarded Seven Hills Rhode Island with a generous grant of $3,750. For the past eleven years, the Integrated Performing and Visual Arts Program at Seven Hills Rhode Island has provided individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities an outlet to release their creative juices through theatrical performances and visually appealing artwork.
However, as with many human services organizations, Seven Hills Rhode Island has had to make considerable changes to the way that programs are delivered to keep participants safe and healthy, including our arts program. With the COVID-19 pandemic threatening to halt all of the progress our arts program has made over the years, IPVAP facilitators have reorganized the program to be delivered virtually. Thankfully, with partners, such as the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, we were able to make the transition seamlessly, even conducting our first Zoom performance to over 70 audience members. Thank you so much to the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and our Rhode Island state legislators for recognizing how important the arts are to people of all abilities!
