In collaboration with the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, the United Way of Central Massachusetts has awarded Family Services of Central Massachusetts with a $60,000 grant award towards our Summer Literacy Initiative. As Worcester students continue to live out the effects of the pandemic, it is imperative that teachers alongside partner organizations, such as Family Services of Central Massachusetts, support students in achieving literacy milestones. The Summer Literacy Initiative goal is to mitigate summer learning loss by supporting children in achieving grade level reading by the third grade and to transition students from a “learn-to-read” to a “read-to-learn” perspective. We are so grateful to the United Way of Central Massachusetts and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation for their amazing support of this imperative program.
