Our Behavioral Health Centers are located in four key Central MA communities — Gardner, Southbridge, Milford and Worcester — allowing us to offer outpatient behavioral health and care coordination support throughout most of Central Massachusetts. At each Center we support clients who are experiencing mental and behavioral health issues, including:
- anxiety and overwhelming stress;
- mood issues including depression and suicidality;
- family challenges including attachment, and adjustment issues; divorce and remarriage; and the impact of substance use on families;
- behavioral struggles including anger management bullying;
- poor social skills and relationship issues;
- bereavement and loss;
- experiences of trauma including physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, family/domestic violence, being bullied and other forms of trauma;
- issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
The Behavioral Health Centers are licensed by the Department of Public Health (DPH), and YOU, Inc. is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
Our professional clinical staff are trained in various Evidence Based Practice (EBP) models including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT); Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP); Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) and other EBPs. Specialty clinical expertise include early childhood mential health, LGBTQ services, trauma treatment, juvenile sexual issues (JSI), substance use issues for adolescents, and attachment struggles. Additionally, we provide consultation and training to community partners and agencies in topics such as early childhood mental health, trauma- informed care and self-care for providers.
For those youth requiring Acute Care in an out-of-home placement, we operate two residential care programs that help stabilize, assess, and develop services for youth who need more intensive services.
The Joy and Robert Wetzel Center for Children provides comprehensive, hospital-level psychiatric care for children in a comfortable, out-of-home setting. We created the Center as a hospital diversion program to give children and adolescents a more appropriate setting for their age for psychiatric care than a traditional hospital can provide. The program consists of a latency (child) unit and an adolescent unit, allowing us to support youth ages 6-18. Youth admitted to the Wetzel Center receive psychiatry; individual and family therapy; group counseling; and case management services.
The Carol O. Schmidt Village offers STARR Services (Stabilization, Assessment, and Rapid Reintegration) for youth referred by the Department of Children and Families. This program helps to stabilize adolescents, assess their needs, and facilitate reunification with family or other caregiving system. In addition, youth in this program receive counseling and nursing support, as well as access to community-based psychiatry and other therapeutic services.
